The Arlis/ANZ Website was redeveloped during 2007 and implemented in January 2008. It moved Arlis/ANZ into the new generation of member interactivity and Web 2.0 functionality.

Hello Arlis/ANZ Community

I thought I would share some news about a few things I know are going on in the Arlis/ANZ community. And I also would like to encourage members to share their news aswell, by logging into your site profile and blogging.

I saw from Jane Wild's blog that she is off to the Medieval Imagination exhibition in Melbourne, and I hope she will be able to share her impressions of that event with us all, on her return.

On the Arlis/ANZ Conference front, I can let you know that we are well on track to pulling together an exciting event - if you haven't already seen, do check out the post about our two opening keynote speakers - they are going to be a dynamic double opener!

We have also commenced our sponsorship campaign, and I would welcome any suggestions from memebrs for business who would appreciate the opportunity to market their products at our conference, through taking out a sponsorship deal.

I also have news that Kelly McKeon, myself and Luisa Rossitto have been accepted to the ALIA Dreaming 08 conference in Alice Springs in September, where we will present a paper on the Arlis/ANZ website redevelopment. They liked our take on the web 2.0 phenomenon, from the viewpoint not of clients, but professional development! We will be talking about how a Web 2.0 approach to our site redevelopment is helping us grow communication and collaboration within our geographically distributed Society.

Kelly and I have also submited a paper to the Australian Library Journal, which is currently under peer review, and we are so pleased to be able to create opportunities to raise awareness of Arlis/ANZ amongst the general library community.

Paige Luff is working hard to bring us the next issue of the journal and has been liaising with a graphic designer on a possible re-branding. She'll be presenting proposals to the AGM in October, so come along if you want to see first hand!

Certainly, Arlis/ANZ members are active professionally, both in their primary roles and on behalf of the Society - and we'd all love to hear more about what everyone is up to!

So please consider blogging to the site, and sharing your news, your ideas, your projects, your successes, and even your problems! Communication and collaboration is the cement which continues to bind us together as a strong and progressive Society - so please keep in touch!

Arlis/ANZ has initiated a number of projects including the Australian Visual Arts Information Project, the Australian Visual Arts Information Forum, and the Visual Arts Library Survey .

We have also funded projects through the Online Resources Grant, which provides Arlis/ANZ members with an independent source of funding for the development of arts-related online resources.

The Arlis/ANZ Website Redevelopment Project was a major initiative by Arlis/ANZ members to upgrade the Society's web presence incorporating Web 2.0 Technology.

Arlis/ANZ runs a number of projects including the Australian Visual Arts Information Project, New Zealand Visual Arts Indexes and visual art collections on the Australian Libraries Gateway.

Visual Arts Library Survey

A survey was conducted of Visual Arts Libraries in 2004. Data collected includes charateristics of users, collections held, methods of access and databases used. The report from this survey is available for download.
