ARLIS/ANZ NZ Chapter AGM 2011
Posted November 17th, 2011 by Joan McCracken
Tena Koutou katoa
We now have a programme for the gathering and AGM of the NZ Chapter of ARLIS/ANZ (Art Libraries Society Australia & NZ http://www.arlis.org.au/ )
The ARLIS Day will be held in Wellington on Monday 28 November 2011 (the day before the National Digital Forum).
Programme
11am Meet at Wellington City Gallery for a tour, with Curator Abby Cunnane, of the brand new Hirschfeld Gallery exhibition A mobile library (opening 27 November) - and if there is time Aaron Lister will show us around Prospect: New Zealand art now
http://citygallery.org.nz/ (there's a map showing the Gallery location under "About us" on the site
12.15ish We will go next door to the fabulous Nikau Café for lunch
http://nikaucafe.co.nz/
2.30pm AGM - to be held in Poutama Ruma, Ground Floor, Archives NZ, 10 Mulgrave Street, Wellington
Map http://tinyurl.com/c49wqa3
On the agenda will be
• a discussion about the location of the ARLIS/ANZ NZ Chapter executive for the next year or two (Wellington are happy to keep in on - we are just getting the hang of it - but maybe another centre is really really keen??)
• ideas for extending our membership
• reports from branches
There will also be time for presentations on new ventures (eg websites, finding aids, publications) by anyone who would like to give one. A datashow and laptop will be available (we are a Microsoft environment so presentations created in Mac can sometimes cause problems).
Please send any other agenda items to our secretary, Fiona Gray (fiona.gray@dia.govt.nz), and also let her know if you would like to make a presentation and approximately how long it might take, so we can organise the afternoon to fit. We will also need to know if you want to link to the internet.
A full agenda will be sent out by the end of next week.

ARLIS/ANZ NZ Chapter AGM - suggestions needed

It is a long time since NZ members of ARLIS have heard from their executive - but we do still exist. I apologise for the lack of contact over the last couple of years, but the enthusiasm for change in the public sector has to take some of the blame!
However, Fiona Gray (Secretary), Fran McGowan (Treasurer), Victoria Boyack (Events), and I are very keen to remedy this silence and hope that you will be able to join us for the Annual General Meeting of the NZ Chapter of ARLIS/ANZ on Monday 28 November 2011. We have "attached" the meeting to the National Digital Forum in the hope that this will make it easier for travel costs.
We propose a meeting in the morning (from about 10.30am), followed by a shared lunch and an afternoon of visits to local repositories. We hope that at the AGM regional groups can give an update on activities in their area in the past year (or so), and / or new ventures (websites, finding aids, publications). A datashow and laptop will be available. Before we finalise the venue and programme we would appreciate an indication of who is able to attend, of items for the agenda, and of any presentations you would like to give (this will give us an idea of how long to schedule the meeting).
Also - if there is a repository or art librarian in Wellington you have been longing to visit, do let us know and we will see what we can arrange.
Please send contact Fran or if you think you will be able to attend and/or suggestions for activities, as I am about to go on leave for a couple of weeks (lucky me!).
Applications for funding from the ARLIS/ANZ New Zealand chapter travel fund are invited. Guidelines for this award and details of how to apply are attached. The closing date for applications is Friday 28 October 2011. As no award was made in 2010 this year offering two awards of $300 each.
We look forward to seeing you in Wellington in November.
Nga mihi
