Anyone else off to the ALICE?
Posted August 29th, 2008 by Ellen Thompson
Come Monday, I'll be off to the ALIA Dreaming08 Conference in Alice Springs. I'm co-presenting a paper with Kelly McKeon, as well as co-presenting another paper on liaison in academic libraries on behalf of my boss - both on the same day!
Joye Volker and Jennifer Coombes are presenting in the same session, and a bit later on the same day, Andrea McKey - our chapter chair in NT - is also presenting. It's fantastic that Arlis/ANZ members are visible on the ALIA Conference circuit!
Are any other Arlis/ANZ members presenting or attending? It'd be great to be able to get together, perhaps, and catch up over a drink.

Hello Arlis/ANZ Community
I thought I would share some news about a few things I know are going on in the Arlis/ANZ community. And I also would like to encourage members to share their news aswell, by logging into your site profile and blogging.
I saw from Jane Wild's blog that she is off to the Medieval Imagination exhibition in Melbourne, and I hope she will be able to share her impressions of that event with us all, on her return.
On the Arlis/ANZ Conference front, I can let you know that we are well on track to pulling together an exciting event - if you haven't already seen, do check out the post about our two opening keynote speakers - they are going to be a dynamic double opener!
We have also commenced our sponsorship campaign, and I would welcome any suggestions from memebrs for business who would appreciate the opportunity to market their products at our conference, through taking out a sponsorship deal.
I also have news that Kelly McKeon, myself and Luisa Rossitto have been accepted to the ALIA Dreaming 08 conference in Alice Springs in September, where we will present a paper on the Arlis/ANZ website redevelopment. They liked our take on the web 2.0 phenomenon, from the viewpoint not of clients, but professional development! We will be talking about how a Web 2.0 approach to our site redevelopment is helping us grow communication and collaboration within our geographically distributed Society.
Kelly and I have also submited a paper to the Australian Library Journal, which is currently under peer review, and we are so pleased to be able to create opportunities to raise awareness of Arlis/ANZ amongst the general library community.

Join our 'Virtual Clubhouse'
Posted March 7th, 2008 by Ellen Thompson
Hi everyone - well, our 'virtual clubhouse' is growing!
We currently have 26 people on the Arlis/ANZ website - yeehaaaa.
I'm not going to tell you who they all are - you will just have to see for yourself!
Curious though?
Well - of those 26; 11 have their profile pictures up, 7 are on the site, but not showing their faces...and 9 have not completed their registration.
If you're in the latter two categories - how about jumping on the site and completing the picture for us all. If you have any questions or problems, just drop an email to Kelly, our wonderful Website Manager. (hint: you'll find her contact details on the site!)
And if you're an Arlis/ANZ member or friend and not yet on the site - there's no time like the present. Come on, check out the site, see who your colleagues are, and join our virtual clubhouse! You know you want to......
All the best, and see you at the conference in October!

Conference dates and venue confirmed!
Posted December 20th, 2007 by Ellen Thompson
Hot on the heels of news about the website - we have fantastic news regarding the conference!
I'm absolutely delighted to now confirm the dates and venue for the 2008 Arlis/ANZ conference: "Cultural Connections: MySpace is an ArtSpace"
Dates: Thurs/Fri, 9th and 10th of October 2008 (plus an optional Saturday morning event)
Venue: Queensland State Library
Registrations and a call for papers will open early in the new year.
Minimal details are listed on the current Arlis/ANZ website, including contact details for enquiries, but basically, we are hoping to advertise and manage the conference through the new Arlis/ANZ website - due for full implementation early in the new year.
So stay tuned! The new year promises to be full of exciting developments on both fronts!
