Joye Volker confirmed as President

We are very happy to announce that Joye Volker will take on the role of ARLIS/ANZ President until the AGM of 2010. Linda Groom will assist Joye with some of the administrative duties.

Sincere thanks to both Joye and Linda and also to Ellen Thompson for her wonderful work as President from 2006 - 2009.

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS - Arlis/ANZ President

The position of ARLIS/ANZ President is currently vacant. This means there is a great opportunity for a member to take up the position until the 2010 ARLIS/ANZ AGM.

It will be feasible for the new president to do most of their work by e-mail, though they would also need to attend the 2010 conference in Canberra; in other words the new president could come from any Australian state/territory or New Zealand.

The president's tasks include preparing the agenda for, and chairing, AGMs (which in non-conference years can be electronic), calling for nominations for any vacant committee positions, and providing advice, and occasional gentle nagging, to committee members. The president also usually has a role at the biennial conference e.g. a welcoming address.

Presidency of ARLIS/ANZ is a great way to extend your professional networks. It looks great on your CV. I can thorougly recommend it as a rewarding and not too arduous role.

Self-nominations are welcome. Please send nominations to me at lgroom@nla.gov.au by Friday 26th June.

Past President, ARLIS/ANZ
Curator of Pictures

*New* - Arlis/ANZ Official Documents online

We have a new page on the Arlis Site, where core official documents generated by the National Executive will be posted. the page is called Arlis/ANZ Documents and it is a link under the 'About us' section of the website.

Documents such as minutes, reports, proposals and decisions which are of interest and concern to members will be made available at this page. (Note: This page does not replace the official record held in the Arlis archives.)

We kick of with the minutes and documents tabled at the recent 2008 AGM held in Brisbane.

Now it's easier than ever for Arlis/ANZ members to access documentation arising out of the business activities of YOUR Society.

Because this information is also accessible by all site users and guests, detailed financial information which is for members only will not be posted, but is available upon request to any member. Enquiries in the first instance should be directed to the National Secretary.

Our conference has been blogged!!

Check out the blogs of Kathryn Greenhill and Axel Bruns, and read about what they thought of being part of our conference.

WOW - What a conference!!!

Ok - so if you weren't there, you must have been square, 'cos we had the best time!!!

The programme delivered everything we'd hoped, with a varied and interesting mix of presentations and still left plenty of time to network with collegaues we'd not seen for ages, stretch our legs with walks around the cultural precinct of Brisbane's South Bank, and also check out the amazing spaces of the State Library of Queensland and the Gallery of Modern Art.

Now it would be just fantastic if everyone who was at the conference blogged about it on the Arlis site!

Tell us about your favourite presentations, your reflections on what you saw, the great ideas you'r taking back to your own places, the old friends you reconnected with, the new friends you made, and even what you think we could do better for next time. Then all the members who weren't able to be with us in Brisbane will still be able to share in the experience of the conference.

Only 6 days to go!

Well, at time of writing it's only 6 days to go till we all rendezvous in Brisbane for the 2008 conference. Preparations are now happening at the micro level, and the organising team is confident that you're going to have a great time with us in our lovely city.

If you've not yet made that final decision to come, well, there's still a few places left! We might just be able to slip you in! So please, get in touch.

See you in Brisbane on the 9th!
